From the classroom to creating beautiful homes
After more than 25 years as a Primary School teacher, I decided it was time to follow a dream — my love of interior design. I had always been fascinated by the way colour, texture and carefully considered details could transform a room, and by the feeling a well-designed space creates: welcoming, comfortable and truly personal.
My first project was a friend’s lounge. Then came a whole house for a family moving to London, and as word spread my work grew across North Yorkshire — family homes, hotels, restaurants and even a reflexology clinic. Clients soon began asking me to project manage their renovations as well as design them, and over the years I’ve built a team of trusted tradespeople who are, above all, exceptional problem solvers.
In many ways teaching prepared me for this more than I realised. It taught me to listen, organise, solve problems and understand people — and that is where every good interior begins.

How closely will I be involved in the design?
As involved as you’d like to be. Every project starts with a clear brief built around how you live, and I guide you through each decision — layout, lighting, fabrics and finishes — so the process feels considered rather than overwhelming.
Do you use your own suppliers and tradespeople?
Yes. I work with a trusted network of bespoke suppliers and tradespeople built up over years in the industry, which is how projects stay well-sourced and built to last.
Do you offer off-the-shelf design packages?
No. Every plan is tailored entirely to the space and the people using it, rather than dropped in from a template.
What sort of projects do you take on?
Single room refreshes, full house refurbishments and commercial projects for hotels and restaurants, across York, Harrogate, Knaresborough and North Yorkshire.
Where are you based?
My studio is in York, and I work throughout North Yorkshire and beyond.
