Hospitality spaces are judged in the first few seconds. The Log Room at the Feversham Arms in Helmsley shows the approach — charcoal walls, reclaimed timber and low, warm lighting working together, so the room feels relaxed at lunch and full of atmosphere once evening service starts.
The dining room
In the Log Room, reclaimed timber columns break a long room into more intimate areas, and a stacked log wall gives the tables at the back a focal point. Vintage posters on charcoal walls add character without competing with the food, and a side room in burnt orange and olive green gives groups a warmer space of their own.
The bar
A timber-clad bar with a charred, lacquered top, open shelving for the spirits and blue lighting washed across the floor. It gives the bar a clear identity and draws guests through the room.
Lighting & finishing touches
Industrial pipe lights with filament bulbs, glass jars along the bar and a polished timber top that catches the light. Small details like these are what guests remember.
